     Jane and D.I.
expected that the road they traveled on the second day would be just as
curvy as before, since it was mostly in the mountains. However,
    unexpectedly, most of the road (Highway 101 - 199 - 5 - 234 - 62) was fairly
smooth, without too many sharp turns. They were able to drive 50-60 MPH most
of the day, and in many places as fast as 70 MPH.

In addition, there were so many big trees along the road, which provided
great scenery. D.I. recalled a joke he had said during his first years in
the U.S. (1973-1975) :  "Even if the economy collapses in the
U.S., every American can be fed for more than 100 years just by cutting down
these trees and exporting them." The only problem Jane and D.I.
encountered on the road that day was a more than 30-minute wait on Highway
62, about 10 miles from Crater Lake National Park, due to road work.
