2011
Q2 KMI/AMI Alumni Golf
The
Last Tournament
7/23/11
The
2nd. Qtr. 2011 KMI/AMI Alumni Golf was originally scheduled to play on
6/25. However, due to the delayed arrival of K. M. Shim from Korea, it was
postponed by almost a month and played at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club at
the southern tip of San Jose. The weather was perfect - cool in the morning
and little warm in the afternoon. At
the golfing, we learned K. M. Shim will not come to Silicon Valley as he has
been but will come only once a year now on, probably some time in Summer,
and stay only a few weeks with his two sons here not playing golf as he has
been any more. Because of this change, we will not have enough players to
play quarterly KMI/AMI Alumni Golf Tournaments any more. Therefore, we
decided to discontinue this tournament and 7/23
Q2 2011 tournament this time will be the last tournament
we will have. It is very sorry and we all will miss this golf very much, but
no one can escape from getting older. ===================================================================================

After the golf tournament, we had the dinner at Korea Palace (Sanjang)
Restaurant and had a great time for a while chatting various subjects.
It
was a great day and every one really enjoyed the day, though we had to make
a decision to discontinue this wonderful tournament every quarter.

KMI/AMI Q2 golf tournament on 7/23: Our final and last tournament
Seven players came to play this Q2 tournament at beautiful Cinnabar Hills
Golf Course in
San Jose
. The weather was perfect for golf with spottless blue sky, warm, and
comfortable temperature. We all enjoyed the game and our friendship.
Well,
this turned out to be the last KMI/AMI golf tournament! There will be no
more KMI/AMI golf tournament. Occasional golf outings can be arranged but
they will no longer be called KMI/AMI golf tournament. Mr. & Mrs. DI Cho
"retired" from playing golf in April. And Mr & Mrs. KM Shim
won't be able to participate in future KMI/AMI golf tournaments as they
won't be visiting here as frequently as they have been in the past (they are
planning to visit Bay Area once a year going forward). So, that counts one
half or more than half of our usual tournament participants. We all agreed
to make this tournament the last. All of us had some kind of emptiness and
somewhat sorrow feeling as we all had some emotions attached to KMI/AMI golf
tournaments. Here are some statistics:
1st
tournament played: 5/18/2002
Last
tournament played: 7/23/2011
Years
played: 9
Total
number of tournaments played: 30
1.
Thanks to my boss, HoeJang Nim, Mr. DI Cho for giving me guidance for
organizing the tournaments. Our tournaments wouldn't be possible without his
passion in golf and leadership. I would like to thank him especially for
keeping all handicap scores, taking pictures, and posting them on web site
for every tournament we played.
2.
Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. KM Shim who made trips to Bay Area from
Korea
to participate in the tournaments. In many cases, they had to adjust
their itinerary to be in time for the tournaments. Too bad. We will
miss his smile and jokes he used to give us.
3.
Thanks to KMI/AMI golfers who made the tournaments fun and friendly. Our
friendship grew deeper along with golf. Our memories will last forever.
4.

5.
Mr. & Mrs. KM Shim will be returning to
Korea
in late August. A golf outing will be arranged before his departure to Korea. Most likely golf on August 20, Saturday. Will send details later.
So
long with best regards
