2010 Q1 KMI/AMI Alumni Golf
It was D.I.'s Day - 3/20/10

The 1st. Qtr. 2010 KMI/AMI Alumni Golf  was held on 3/20 Saturday afternoon at the Castlewood Country Club Valley Course in Pleasanton, about 30 min. drive to northeast from San Jose and a private club where D. I. Cho and K. M. Shim are members. It was really D. I. Cho's Day as he won all awards but The Longest-Drive Award and Medalist Award which K. M. Shim won. D. I. won - 2009 Champion Award, 1Q-2010 Champion Award and two Closest-to-the-Pin Awards by home course advantage and great iron shots on the day. The weather was absolutely perfect with highest temperature of 75F (24C) and lightly clouded sky during the whole tournament.

At the 1st. hole tee ground (Left to right) :
D. I. Cho, Jane Cho, Mrs. K. M. Shim, K. M. Shim, T.H. Lee, W. K. Changand K. R. Choi.

There were two tournaments going on at the same time. In 2009, due to the rain, the 4th. Quarter tournament was cancelled and there were 3 quarterly Champions - D. I. Cho in 1Q, K. R. Choi in 2Q and Mrs. Shim in 3Q - and they had the final play-off match to decide who will be the 2009 Champion in parallel to the 1Q 2010 regular tournament. The quarterly winners kept 2009 Champion Trophy only for a quarter until the next tournament but 2009 Champion will keep this trophy permanently.

And the winner was D. I. Cho.

In addition to the 2009 Champion Award, D. I. made 2 "Closest to the Pins" at #4 hole (152 yards) and # 14 hole (107 yards). No one could make the green in one at 2 other long PAR 3 holes : #6 hole (187 yards from white tee and 206 yards from blue tee) and #11 hole (190 yards from white tee and 212 yards from blue tee). This means there was no other "Closest to the pin" winner other than D. I.
At #14 hole, D. I. could make almost "Hole in One" as the ball stopped at the gimme distance (little over 1 ft.) and made a birdie.

K. M. Shim drove the ball more than 200 yards at #13 hole and won the "Longest Drive Award".
D. I. also drove around 200 yards but it was little less than 10 yards shorter than K. M. Shim.

K. M. Shim also had a great day hitting 82, 10 over par - just one stroke more for single digit score - and became the Medalist of the day.

As D. I. scored the lowest net score after the handicap adjustment on the day, he was not only the winner of the 2009 Championship but also the winner of the 1Q-2010 regular tournament Championship too, receiving both trophies on the day though this 2010 trophy will be kept only for a quarter until we will have next tournament. It was really "My Day" for D. I. Cho.

After the tournament, they had a drinks and awards presentation at Castlewood club house, and went to the Korean Village in Livermore for the dinner except T. H. Lee who had to leave early for other appointment.

It was a great day with perfect weather, beautiful course and no one bothering us in front of us and behind us too.
